Bug or (very) strange design choice

Post by brettwjohnson »

I just played the "Gap" scenario for the first time and I noticed something that really bothers me...

"Resting" missile units still provide cover fire for adjacent units...?

Ummm... WHAT???

This seem both very wrong and very strange.

A unit that is resting should not be able to provide missile support AND should have reduced combat attack/defense...

Similarly, "Broken" missile units appear to provide support also (apparently at full strength)... While this is less egregious than the resting case, it also seems odd...

I would highly recommend that "Resting" units lose their ability to provide cover fire AND should have a attack/defense penalty applied if attacked while resting.

You may also want to re-examine how "Broken" units work.

A couple of other thoughts on Resting Units...

1) Resting Units should lose their retreat ability

2) Resting Flying units should be considered as "non-flying" when resting. This means they are vulnerable to any type of unit and thus need to be in a safe place to rest and not rest near the front lines.

Last time I checked, birds don't "rest" while flying...
