Low Altitude Attack

Post by naturesheva »

Hi, can anyone explain how does this trait work?
The description of this trait is "Anti-Air units with this trait can access Close Defense of attacking aircraft with the same trait."

However, when testing WirbelwindAA to attack Fw190A (both have this strait), the combat log still show 6 defense point. While Fw190A's close defense is 0.

Thanks.

From what i played it works mainly as trait for small caliber AA's so they can't seriously harm Strategic bombers, as they dont have range to get them.

I believe (but am not 100% sure) that you will only access the CD of the aircraft when the AA unit is firing in support in response to the plane making an attack on one of your ground units.

This only works if the Fw190 is attacking YOU, and AA gun is shooting in support. When you attack on your turn, normal ground defense is used.

Thanks, and that does make sense to me.
Just hope somehow in the combat log, the statement "Attacker has access to defender's close defense rating!" could be turned off when AA is actively attacking.

If that's the case then this should probably be re-worded.

This is an identical wording to the "Close Combat" trait of infantry, which works both offensively and defensively: Infantry attacking tanks in a forest have access to the tank's CD rating, just like infantry BEING attacked by tanks have access to the tank's CD rating.
