You can speed up animations. That cuts down on time.

And hold down SPACE during AI turn...

sure by using this line of thought, World of Tanks or other MMOs would have been tremendously successful like they have.

There is currently very little incentive for me to open Panzer Corps and play it, except the novelty. After 10 games beating the crap out of new players (making them probably quitting the MP scene as well), I will just quit and never come back just like Panzer Corps 1.

I have no idea where to find them and if its not officially baked into the game interface don't except others to find it.

Most games use those alternative methods as their channel of communication. If you want to find a gamer that's the place to look

The music is really on point. In PzC1 I just muted it and played a podcast or something, but in this installment I actively listen to it. I think it's "Light Track v2" which really captures the sense of optimism combined with a looming expectation of disaster, which is so fitting for the time. Give your music person a pat on the back for this one :D .

Kerensky your statement shows to me, that you do not take multiplayer as a serious part of the game. Matchmaking is a critical part of multiplayer business. If you are not able to deal with it, PC2 will give away a lot potential to become a really good multiplayer game. Multiplayer does need more than a forum (without a multiplayer section by the way). As example every simple chess app on your mobile comes with an ELO ladder, to choose proper opponents. This is really easy to implement. It helps players to get an estimation about there opponent and it gives the opportunity to challenge someone playing on the same level. In addition climbing up a ladder is a basic motivation to play. So you are not able to implement something like that? Your statement above does not promote PC2 multiplayer!

For me quite the same as Mordan said is true. I joined PC in 2011 and played multiplayer till of March 2013. Then I joined for Goose great tournament in 2018 again and left after that. Thank you Goose for creating multiplayer content we are missing.

Is that really such a good example? World of Tanks is very successful, as is World of Warcraft. Compare that to the vast majority of utterly dead MMO games that have completely ceased all operations and server support to these titanic successes.... I'm not sure I understood your point.

Also.

Do you like USB, or do you like having to use a different port for every device you plug into your computer. Serial keyboard port, parallel printer port, stereo in, microphone, and so on. Or do you plug USB devices into a universal port?
Dedicated communities like Discord and Reddit (and the forum) are USB. They're kinda new, but catching on. Except forums, they've been around a while heh. Point is each game trying to develop their own internal multiplayer interfaces is like trying to make a specialized aspect of the game when generalized aspects of the game already exist on other dedicated platforms.

You might think it's a huge difference, but I don't. It's a matter of software compared to hardware. Software has come with such ease of access, I think we underestimate 'just plug chat interface/lobbies/friendslists' into everything, it's easy!

You can think that, but I would feel compelled to correct you. I much prefer the finely tuned, purpose built balanced multiplayer maps of PZC and PZC2 over the mismatched campaign scenario ports of the past.

If what goose did was so vital to MP, why can't someone else just pick up the reigns and organize tournaments and manage brackets all the player applicants?

It's easy to say something is simple to implement. Actually attaching a new system onto the mountain of existing systems, maybe not so much. :?:
All I'm saying is give the Flashback Devs a break. They're working hard, but they can't grant everyone's wishes all at once.

It was vital. It lacked support of sorts. It wasn't supposed to cross PzC2 in time schedule - all understandable
Missed opportunities nonetheless.
Why can't "somebody" else? A lot of energy and time for nothing in return.

It is basically charity. It would be for me personally
Charity only happens when the ones who profit value the commitment.
They got to give their all to make the charity happen - and matter - otherwise it goes away

Contrary to popular corporate believe - real chances are rare

This is one of the reasons to never invest in software as an entrepreneur.
Once you hear the classic "It's easy to say" - when in fact it is so easy a monkey with an ipad could do it - you know you lose money.
We in general lay people off by default that give this line. It's the only way to enjoy the rest of the day...

The point is... you don't do anybody favours arguing against something as simple and useful as that.
It is in the best interest of the game.

If it was so simple, I would happily volunteer my own time to implement. But it's far beyond my ability. Anything I can't do myself, I consider to not be simple. Because it requires specialized knowledge and effort of another individual. Another individual's time and energy and effort.

So anytime you say something is simple, I would argue you need to prove you can, and will, do it yourself.

Personally, I'm thrilled we have as much MP as we do in Panzer Corps 2. I'm just glad the option exists to play other people over the internet, do it on well balanced maps, and also have that sweet new feature to play it in True Online mode where both players are connected to the game at the same time instead of always going through PBEM systems. Angry Joe and Other Joe enjoyed the shit out of his MP game with Alex (not our Alex, their Alex) and I got a huge kick out of watching it.

That new system itself is a huge technological leap over Panzer Corps.

More important than anything it is a functional foundation with room to grow. It's a starting point, MP exists instead of being completely scrapped to focus exclusively on single player content. We'll see where the devs choose to take it from here. Obviously they care about MP, because first patch was hugely focused on improving MP performance and experience.

I would point out that WOT has it's own Discord channel and if you want to "speak" with a developer from Wargaming's mothership, Reddit is the place to find them. WG embraces these platforms as that is where the gamers are. Want to find players to division up? Discord.

So I totally agree. Players on the WG forums have the same complaints, but their are more players on Reddit and Discord and WG is smart enough to realize that

Pulling up the sleeves is no solution...
Humans never change their mind based on proof or fact. Monkeys do though.
But no worries... I will never be able to prove anything programming wise.
That ship has sailed. ;)

In any case it consumes ressources - that is out of the question.

Haven't watched Joe for almost ten years. He has surpassed Goering level as I see. Great outfit...

There are a lot of good basics.

Technical functionality hopefully comes first.
GPU heat is my biggest concern right now.

I agree that putting a MMO together is not simple. And I don't expect that.

But a basic in game friend list with ELO ratings, replayable matches so that new players can watch replays and learn is not asking for the moon.

I agree that synchronized gameplay is a huge step forward.. Some usability feature would make the experience easier.. such as knowing if the players are AFK, allowing someone to take "his time", better chat interface.

I would also like to see a chess like timer for tournaments in order to put time pressure on the players. So battles are intense and you really have to plan ahead while the other player is doing his turn.

I have to put food dry ice under my 4 years old lap top to cool it off.. it works pretty well. but that's the same for other games, even more WOT.. the game totally breaks without external cooling dry ice from the freezer.

Sorry Kerensky I was just referring on your statement before, not on your work in total. I enjoyed your balanced maps in PC already and I do so in PC2, that is really great work. Overall PC2 is a great game for multiplayer within the turned based engine, just the hull around do only contain the absolutly necessary functions, but this hull is very important as well. Hey if your opponent surrenders in his turn you get not even an information about, the game is just gone, or did I miss anything. Multiplayer does thrives on participation and this depends on motivation.
So you are entering battle with a Tiger II armed with a maschine gun.

It's nice to see Panzer Corps Multiplayer legends in this topic. :) Just a quick note, we do take MP seriously, and we do have plans to expand it in the coming months. Things like tournaments, ranked games and friend/foe lists are in these plans. Also, we'll never be able to replicate all functionality from things like Discord inside the game, but we are going to place a link to join game's Discord server straight into MP UI.

i just won Steam roller game in 9 turns.. He resigned when i dropped paras and took one of his hex in his back.. after getting destroyed by the King Tiger. Protect that unit with air support and an Elephant and the russian Shapirov is going to struggle.

quite underwhelming.. all this time for no gratification in the end.

Unrelated: Hylan Valley was one of the best MP scenario.. Would be nice to duplicate it in PC2.

I actively tried not to duplicate too many classic MP maps for the first batch of PZC2 maps. No matter how much I like Bzura or Hylan... it'll just be perceived as copy pasting old content into new game. I did bring two over, but one was rebuilt from the ground up and the other is very different with endless rain/no mud.

I'd like to bring more classic maps over, and also have more new maps eventually. But it's not entirely up to me to do this. There are budgets, and timetables, and paid DLC that people expect a lot from to deliver.
