Cohesion drop question

Post by lapdog666 »

wasnt playing for some time and now i forgot some rules

when an unit is fighting 2 enemy units in melee phase , is rolling cohesion drop (ANY kind of cohesion drop, including routing ) only possible once, or is the roll being performed each time i click on enemy unit to resolve melee combat

any difference between melee and impact and perhaps combination of impact and melee

i think you know what i mean. i d like to know every detail of this mechanic if there are some

also same question for < Losing combat > . is it calculated separately each time with each enemy unit (1 unit fighting 2 enemy units) or is it something different

One roll is done for close combat and that score is kept and modified every time a new modifier is added. So if you lost combat against one unit and pass your roll, but then lost combat against the second unit and also, for example, gain the "lost [whatever percentage it is] strength" modifier and get another -1 on your initial close combat roll and you could then possibly fail the test.

Fragmented units being charged have a new roll for every charge they take so its worth it to keep sending in attackers against fragmented units.

Some good info but I think still a bit unclear. I think what he wants to know is if he dropped to disordered in the first melee can he drop to fragmented in the second melee?

Fragmented units always have a new roll that is clear..

They can drop a second time if they "lose badly", which I'm not sure is defined anywhere precisely.

They can drop a second cohesion level if additional modifiers tip their overall score below 3 (the "double drop" bracket) with the existing random roll.

e.g.
- Overall "damage" suffered in all melees this turn is now sufficiently higher than "damage" inflicted to count as "lost badly", when it wasn't after the previously calculated combat. Since "damage" is an abstract internal variable that isn't reported (it is NOT the same as casualties) it is impossible to give a specific definition for "lost badly" that would be meaningful.
- Overall unit losses went up to 25% or 50%.
- General was fighting nearby but isn't any more.
- Latest combat was vs lancers or impact foot etc. when the previous one wasn't.
