Hi,
there are several threads about the high gpu usage problem a lot of players have encountered, here and on the steam forum and some message about the same issue in other threats. There are a couple of suggestions for workarounds by the - as always - very helpful community, but it seems that they are not working for everybody or even the most of the players. There is one brief statement from the developers that optimization is high priority but there is also a lot downplaying the issue and ignoring the concerns.
I tried to ask for some kind of statement, acknowledgement, roadmap or whatever about this issue and what is done to fix it - but I didn't receive an answer to this. Despite a couple of people that are going to or have already refunded the game, it seems that the developers still think that it is only a minor concern. I am very much disappointed by this - to say the least. I fully understand, that there are always glitches, when you release a game, and there might be also serious problems and I understand that you cannot fix everything within hours or days. But I find some of the reactions very condescending to say the least. A game breaking bug for a lot of players should be addressed in a different manner, I think.
I am sorry for this rant, but I just couldn't help it.
Cheers

Re: Statement about GPU usage from the devs?
Please understand that the sheer number of posts here and on Steam forum (literally many thousands), questions, reported problems etc. has been huge in just a few days, and we still need to create the first patch itself asap. We are doing our best to answer to everyone, but please bear with us if this is not always the case.
To answer your specific question, a lot of problems with GPU usage stem from excessive geometry in the scene, and for the first patch there have been several different fixes, each one reducing the number of polygons in various areas of the game (mountains, forests, rivers etc., you get the idea). So we expect a significant improvement in this area in the first patch which should go out this week. We'll continue improving this aspect after the first patch as well.

Thank you for your answer, that is exactly what I needed to know. I do understand, that you cannot answer everything at once, I just thought, that this is not an ordinary concern, and what really irritated me was the first response. Anyways, I will be happy to wait for the patch. I hope, we will be able to adjust the max fps with the slider then. By the way - before I stopped play due to the gpu issue, the game looked very promising (Played until deployment phase in Norway) and that is probably one the reason I got so vocal about this.Rudankort wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 8:45 am Please understand that the sheer number of posts here and on Steam forum (literally many thousands), questions, reported problems etc. has been huge in just a few days, and we still need to create the first patch itself asap. Re: Statement about GPU usage from the devs?
Thank you Rudankort for the info. I cannot make it through the Case Blue scenario without my computer overheating and shutting down. Some of that is my computer has an overheating problem and I need to rebuild my system and upgrade, which I will do after the damage is assessed post COVID-19. For your information in searching for a fix, I did not have any overheating issues with the early releast version, not sure why, but I did select the afrika path in the 48 hours of release, and this time I chose the Soviet path, which is the only difference on my end.
Re: Statement about GPU usage from the devs?
That's same old 3D fashion, badly done.
As I don't play this bad 3D, I have no GPU problem using 'strategic' map.

Thank you. Can't wait to play.
