You should just buy it. It's great.
BTW Steam I think you can refund after a short test of you do not like. Never tried this though.

Dunno if there's a PC2 demo but demos often don't do justice to the full game anyway so you'll have to grit your teeth and buy it and keep your fingers crossed that you'll like it.
I like PC2 except for the random mission generator, it allows us to pick our own nationality but it randomly selects the nationality of the computer opponent which means you have no say in who you'll be playing against, heck you could even find yourself playing against an enemy of your own nationality, and I hope the devs fix it because otherwise the generator is very good.
PS- like some guys have said, if we buy stuff from Steam we can get a refund if they think it's a valid reason, for example I recently bought DCS F/A-18 Hornet from Steam for a cool 62 GB pounds (75 US dollars) but it was a struggle to get it to work so I applied for a refund, but Steam refused on the grounds I'd played it for over two hours (sniffle).

No such thing as a dumb question.
No theres no demo. Steam provides a refund policy "within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime"
https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/
So you can download it, play for a couple of hours and decide if its for you.
Hope that helps.

Re: Basic dumb question from a moron !!
thanks for all the replies I actually forgot about the steam refund policy. I have a very, very, very, dry sense of humor which is why I labeled the Post as I did but I just wanted to make sure there is not one ...
Re: Basic dumb question from a moron !!
Demos are always good for people to check if the game runs or runs good enough to buy it. Games minimum requirements have been Completely Exagerated in at least the last 3 or 4 years. I won't go into specifics because you probably won't believe it. On PC2 I will add that I run it with 4gb of 1333 ram P E R F E C T L Y. Loads take 2-3 seconds. Now I ask, how many people haven't bought the game because of the 8gb minimum requirements announced on steam? I'm even tempted to take one of the dimms and give it a try with 2gb. Maybe after a couple of more beers.
Anyway, probably the best Panzer since PG1 and since I've been playing PG1 for 25 years, that's saying a lot.

I would suggest watching several videos on YouTube that show actual scenarios been played in real time. Personally, I love the game!
Re: Basic dumb question from a moron !!
Gog has an even better return policy:
We always believed in a 'gamers-first’ approach and with this voluntary update to our Refund Policy you can get a full refund up to 30 days after purchasing a product, even if you downloaded, launched, and played it.

The Random Map Generator will allow one to choose one's opposition.PoorOldSpike wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 9:31 amDunno if there's a PC2 demo but demos often don't do justice to the full game anyway so you'll have to grit your teeth and buy it and keep your fingers crossed that you'll like it.

You just have to do so through the excellent Editor.
However, this appears to only work for single player; though I am investigating per how the files work.
MP Scenarios use 3 files, yet when one saves a generated map to attempt to use as a MP map...only 2 files appear.
The 3rd, missing file is a 'lua file (text file).

Thanks, I only play single player anyway, i'll go into the Editor for a dabble but I'm a wargamer not a geek so please send out search parties if I don't return..eddieballgame wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 4:45 amThe Random Map Generator will allow one to choose one's opposition.PoorOldSpike wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 9:31 am I like PC2 except for the random mission generator, it allows us to pick our own nationality but it randomly selects the nationality of the computer opponent which means you have no say in who you'll be playing against, heck you could even find yourself playing against an enemy of your own nationality, and I hope the devs fix it because otherwise the generator is very good.

To clarify, this is the stock Random Scen Generator screen, I've circled the option to set my own nationality, but amazingly there's no way to choose the computers nationality, grrr...

Yes, I noticed & thought...what the hell.
Thank goodness the games Editor...fixed this issue.
I think the 'devs' are looking to change/fix this; but, more importantly, to allow multiplayer per the new, generated maps.
