Favourite traits so far

What are people choosing for good and negative traits?

I am playing with good traits of panzer general+industry connections+liberator.
Negative traits selected are poor maintenance+inefficient supply+slow modernisation.

Fear of the Unknown has to be the best negative trait. It's very easy to work around once you're in the mindset. Get a couple recon planes for 1 point each, or one with the double-move hero, and you'll basically be able to see everything all the time. I've been playing in Africa, where I'm pretty sure you'd have more reasons to enter unseen territory than anywhere else, and it's been like 4 or 5 missions since I've even remembered that I have the trait.

For positive traits, Panzer General is very obviously top tier. All my tanks are overstrengthed, and the effect is massive. I also took blitzkrieg specialist (is that the name?) which seems kinda worth it just for the extra movement. I haven't tried all the others, but the movement suits my style very well; I basically just constantly abuse the shit out of overrun.

I really love that no surpression for 88 guns. So i need only 2 - on big maps 3 of them and one fighter unit. My ground troops are ALWAYS under an 88 flak screen and attacking russian planes loose at least half of the planes. Often they loose 9 of 10 and my 88 gun only has one or two stars because i took green army, which i wouldnt choose again. Sometimes the AA gun doesnt provide fire support, even on good weather. For example: my strategic bomber was one hex away of the 88 gun and was attacked by fighters, and no reaction of the 88 gun. Dont know why, that happened rarely.

And the best of it: my soft ground targets arent punished hard by air force, so i can save lotz of prestige, that i would otherwise need for repairs. And if your 88 gun is on a hill it has range 4.

As far as I know AA guns only fire when ground targets are attacked, not planes.

Also be aware you can change AA fire mode from AA to AT and then it won't fire at planes at all.
