slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
the game runs so slowly, and judders etc.
I try to reset the visuals from high to medium or low or minimum. then click save, it crashes every time at that point. ive clicked submit report every time it does that.
any solutions?

Re: slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
I can't offer any help just yet but I wouldn't bother with submitting reports via the Unreal crash reporter. They go to Epic, not us, and unless it's an engine issue they won't deal with it or pass it to us.JohnVacher wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 3:46 pm the game runs so slowly, and judders etc.

What I would ask is that you post as much information about your computer as possible and provide a dx diagnostic. You can see how here ..

Without that we may as well pluck solutions out of thin air!

Re: slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
the game runs really slowly, and judders when I move anything.
I thought it might be that my laptop cant run it in high graphics settings, so I tried to adjust down to firstly medium, then low, then minimum. Every ti me I made an adjustment and clicked SAVE, it crashed.
making any adjustment and clicking SAVE crashes the game.
thanks

update all drivers to the latest version
then have as little running in the background as possible, as it's a laptop, run it off mains and not battery, then make sure no power saving is used, or it will slow down what is already a cut down cpu made for the power saving market at the slower rate
then make sure the game is using the radeon card and not the onboard chip and game should work fine tbh as long as you don't use the highest settings

I have just the same problem as John described.
The game runs very poorly and when I try to adjust the video options the game crashes when I hit the "save" button.
The latest graphic driver is installed, no ohter programs are running, PC2 is linked to the AMD graphics chip an not the onboard card.
Here is my dxdiag file

Re: slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
tried to update all those drivers. no idea how to ensure which graphics card is being used.
its still juddering, slow, and crashes everytime I click save in options.
unplayable.
panzer corps has been my favourite game for years, Ive got all the dlc's for PC and ipad.
Im afraid Im going to endeavour to get my money back for the game from Steam.
Ill keep checking for updates that fix this problem in the next few months.
so disappointed

Re: slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
all the drivers needed which are old are in the link in the sticky
viewtopic.php?f=582&t=97502
and to force or check on which GPU is being used, here's the link for that

Re: slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
those links didn't help
e.g. how to force graphics card one, is about an nvidia card, it shows right click desk top and click on nvidia thing, there is no option like that.
applied for refund
I don't think Ive had to mess around with any of the games Ive bought like this since windows 98 days. And Ive bought dozens, if not hundreds of games since then, lots of them from slitherine.

Well soneone has to mention the elephant in the room:
All that craphics card talk doesn't change the fact that the game craches(!) when we try to adjust the video settings.
I dare to say that if I could change the settings the game would run better.
All in all I agree with John: frustrating and the real issue (the crash) is out of focus. I was really looking forward for PC2 but it smells like refund.

Re: slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
Final update:
After some experiments with the AMD Adrenalin Software I studied the performance of my GPU
while PC2 was running. An idle fullscreen game where I did nothing results in 99% GPU workload and
just scrolling the map is ridiculously slow.
So without the possibility to change the display settings I spent enough time on "optimizing" without any progress.
Sad but true.

Re: slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
As for adjusting the settings, I got some reply on the steam discussion board...
"You can try editing GameUserSettings.ini from within:
C:\Users\{YOU}\AppData\Local\PanzerCorps2\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor"
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=0
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0
sg.ShadowQuality=0
sg.PostProcessQuality=0
sg.TextureQuality=0
sg.EffectsQuality=0
sg.FoliageQuality=0
sg.ShadingQuality=0
This improves the performamce... However, I have not found out where to change the Tessellation, and I believe that one is the real killer. If anybody finds out, please share it!
Best,
Dennis

Tesselation can sometimes be controlled via the card-specific control panel.

Re: slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
Thanks @ DennisD123 and Pip, that actually helped a lot.
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=1
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=1
sg.ShadowQuality=1
sg.PostProcessQuality=1
sg.TextureQuality=1
sg.EffectsQuality=1
sg.FoliageQuality=1
sg.ShadingQuality=1
And yes, the Tesselation did the trick. Using AMD Adrenaline you can
adjust this setting under "Gaming" and then scroll down and open "Erweitert", ehm "advanded"?
There you find "Tesselation mode". Chose "Anwendungseinstellungen überschreiben" or "Overwrite app data" or something.
Finally switch the tesselation facor, I simply turned it off. Voila.

Re: slow, juddery, cant adjust settings
It did not completely work for me. As I have a Nvidia card, I cannot just switch off tessellation.
