Panzer Corps2 wont start .. Steam says running

So I purchased and downloaded Panzer Corps 2, but I cannot play it.
I clicked on play in Steam and steam says running, but the game does not start, no errors just nothing happens.
Steam constantly says running and it now thinks I have played the game for 63 minutes when it has never started.

It ha a stop icon in steam against the game but clicking on that doesn't change anything and steam still thinks it is running.

I have re-started steam, restarted my PC, ran a verification of the files in steam, which came back as files are ok. Still the game wont actually start

any suggestions ?

nothing in the report that stands out, audio drivers are many many years old, but for a try for now, and steam hanging quite a lot.

start up with a clean startup, only loading your AV and steam, and nothing else, then retry and see if it works, if not check the logs of your AV program and see if that has stopped anything from running, installing steam as admin and running steam and the game as admin should let it pass any AV, but if it doesn't or you haven't you may need to add the game to the AV exception list etc

Sorry .. fixed it. It was a steam issue, I found the fix on the Steam forums.

I downloaded the file vcruntime140_1.dll and put it in steamapps folder then panzercorps2 … in my case K:\GAMES\steamapps\common\Panzer Corps 2\PanzerCorps2\Binaries\Win64

then I just re-started the PC to get the steam instance to close the non started but running panzer corps 2 and it worked.
