Can a hero be killed?

If the unit to which the hero is attached is destroyed, is the hero lost for good too?

It can be. I've read that it can be wounded too, so it's maybe randomly decided if you lose it or not. Not sure.

You can run a test to find out. Put a hero on an artillery or other vulnerable unit and leave it out their exposed. When it dies, check with another unit to see if it went back to your unassigned hero pool, or if it's just gone. My guess is it's gone.

Unit medals/honors are for certain lost if that unit dies though.

Heroes always get killed and it makes them immortal ???

I lost a unit with a hero and the hero was available to be assigned to the replacement. Now, whether that happens every time or if sometimes they die, who knows?

To update my experiences, now had several more units, usually Engineers, die with heroes attached and the hero is always been there to attach to attach to another unit.
