New turn, what do you see on the map and UI?

Post by Swuul »

Today it has dawned to me many people might not actually realise what the game shows as a new turn starts. That is why there are questions around like "when are supplies checked", "why does my gold negative even though the game shows I should have a surplus", etc.

When a new turn begins, you see on the map the situation as it was at the end of the previous turn, and in the UI you see an estimate of how much money, manpower etc you will generate based on the situation at the end of the previous turn. This is important to understand:
You really are at the start of a new turn, and all information you see is based on the previous turn.

Everything for the new turn happens after you have completed your orders for the turn. Random events, rebellions, harsh weather, income generation (for gold, manpower, etc), decissions taking effect, construction, recruiting, supply-checks. Your plotted movement orders take effect *after* these things. Which may lead to things like gold going negative (because you recruited new units and didn't count in the increased upkeep costs (remember, the UI does not show that, as it is based on the previous turn information), or a region rebelled, etc), units suffering from attrition because of harsh weather, etc.
There are three kinds of people, those who can count and those who can't.
