error with unit stuck in a loop
I had a very strange glitch in an ongoing multiplayer game. A unit of lancers broke the fragmented shieldwall it was fighting and then pursued into an enemy unit of lancers. Then the lancers repeated this exact same sequence of events groundhog day style for the next two turns while the rest of the battle progressed normally. A few turns later that same unit of lancers went from pursuing beaten enemy lancers away from the battle to being teleported 3 squares back ready to receive orders. The whole thing was so weird I forgot to take screenshots of the event. WTF is going on?

Very strange. Please report if anything similar occurs again. Did your opponent see anything unusual too?

I asked, never received any reply. My opponent might not speak English, never said anything the whole game other than the initial 'gl'.

Well obviously a glitch occurred, but there isn't really enough to go on to give us much chance of finding out what caused it. We do welcome any similar reports.

Is my understanding correct that the dice rolls are resolved not when you hit the 'End Turn' button, but during your opponent's replay phase?

Re: error with unit stuck in a loop
Everything is resolved when it happens and then again in the Replay. When you End Turn, what the game saves to the server is the position at the start of your turn, and all the actions that occurred, then the Replay runs through them again and recreates the final position. Because of the way that RNGs work, as long as the scripts have not changed, the RNG will generate the same random scores in the same places, and the situation will be exactly the same at the end of the replay as it was at the end of your turn.pompeytheflatulent wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 5:24 pm Is my understanding correct that the dice rolls are resolved not when you hit the 'End Turn' button, but during your opponent's replay phase?

Found something similar in one of Richard Yorke's youtube videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWOn8_-OHJU
Between roughly 35:00 to 40:00 of the video, in turn 13 the viking left flank routed all of their opponents in combat. Then when turn 14 comes up, all the combats reset back a turn.

Some glitch with the replay in the enemy turn I think, but almost impossible for us to track down. Thanks for reporting it.pompeytheflatulent wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2020 2:08 am Found something similar in one of Richard Yorke's youtube videos:

Of course what we don't know is whether there was some difference in the players' builds, which can cause events not to take the same course in the replay, and hence subsequently. Given when the video was posted, this turn may have been the turn when the game was updated to v1.5.25.
