Competition rules
1. Try to win but be nice
2. Games will be 'large' scale and played on pot luck terrain
3. Results
- Win by breaking the opponent's army - 4 points
- Bonus point for winning 40%-15% (or less) - 1 point
- Win by end of game without breaking opponent's army (eg 57%-50%) - 2 points
- Bonus point for losing but inflicting at least 50% losses on the opponent - 1 point
- Tie - 2 points
- Agreed draw - 0 points (shame on you)
4. The winner should report the result on the appropriate thread in the forum as clearly as possible and with a short report if they feel like it.
Round One - we are in the 1570s
(lists can straddle the 1570s and other decades, eg 1578-1600 is perfectly valid as is 1500-1570)
Please select from the following armies:
Team Usagi - The three unifiers trying to unite the warring clans under a benevolent leader, select from Oda, Toyotomi and Tokugawa lists. It does not have to be one list per team.
Team Tori - The Emperor in Kyoto desperately trying to hang on to power, with possible interventions from angry Monasteries (just to add variety to proceedings). Select from Uesugi, Takeda and Ikko Ikki lists. Again, freedom of choice per player.
Note that you should turn the filters off to allow freedom of choice of armies, but as far as I can see any combination will be reasonable historically.
Round Two
The winning team consolidates power and indeed gets a taste for it. The result is to invade Korea (which will be played by the losing team). More on this later.
We will start the games this week as soon as everyone has had a chance to look at this message. I will give the green light asap.

Win game without breaking the enemy? Shouldn't that just be a draw? Why not use the current FoG2DL rules for scoring?

I don't really mind. But this is not a league, just a bit of fun.SnuggleBunnies wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 12:04 pm Win game without breaking the enemy? Shouldn't that just be a draw? Why not use the current FoG2DL rules for scoring?
I am happy to change the above case as suggested.

Re: 2020 team event - excursion programme
I would advocate for that being a draw. Otherwise people might feel encouraged to camp out after achieving even a small lead like that. I agree that this isn't a super competitive affair; thus having the scoring encourage aggression would be good I think.
"Winning league points
Points will be awarded for wins, marginal wins, ties, draws and marginal defeats as follows . . .
4 points - for a win where the losing player has not scored 50% or more
3 points - for a marginal win where the losing player has scored 50% or more
2 points - for a tie where both players score 60% or more, or for a draw where a player has scored at least 25%
1 point - for a marginal defeat where the losing player has scored 50% or more
0 points - for a loss, or for a draw where a player has not scored 25% or more
To win a game a player must always “rout” the opponent’s army.
A draw will occur where neither army has broken by the match turn limit (24 turns), or at any point in the match by agreement between the two players."

Re: 2020 team event - excursion programme
OK fair enough, let's do that. I will add them to the new thread launching Round One.
Thanks for the suggestion.
