Gettysburg forced minimization

Post by alexanderwmead »

I've been having intermittent with forced minimization in SOW Gettysburg. I bought the standard edition as a download a few months ago and, once I picked the right compatibility settings, it worked fine for a while, but then it suddenly started triggering forced minimization. At first, turning some of my antivirus settings down seemed to work, but then it happened again. It started working again after I uninstalled some stuff and (I assume) cleared up more RAM but now the minimization has started again, and there's no popup message or indication as to why it's happening. IN fact, the game music continues to play while minimized (which is unusual) and when I mouse over the minimized window I see an appropriate of the in game menu, but when I click on it pops up to a black screen for about half a second and then minimizes again.

To be clear, I can access the so called "Game Menu" (i.e. "Play" "Support" etc.) fine, and clicking "Play" initially looks like it's working, but as soon as I get past the "INitializing" loading screen, and should hit the first in game menu ("Single Player" "Multiplayer" etc.) I get booted back to desktop with no explanation.

I checked my antivirus log just to make sure it wasn't triggering something without alerting me and didn't see anything with an appropriate time stamp.

Any idea what else I can do?
Thanks

give this a try if your on windows 10, post a report if your not and i'll take a look

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just zip the file then attach it to your post as it's a Txt file which is then not permitted to attach to the forum, where as a zip file is.

normally installing and running as admin on the latest version works fine
