harveylh - Roman 199-106BC with Greek allies 227-146BC defeats herm - Samnite 355-272BC with Gallic allies 300-101BC, 47-3
A battlefield with only a little rough terrain made it difficult for the Samnites. Thanks for the game!

grumpydaddy845 (Viking 780-899AD) TIED Swuul (Dailami 928-1055AD with Armenian allies 885-1045AD) 61-60
A see-saw affair that saw both sides with a chance for the win, the Vikings fell one point short of finishing it. On the following turn, both armies were routed beyond the 60% limit.
Well Fought

General Shapur - Polish 966-1057AD defeats Garokan - Arab Conquest 638-984AD- 63:49
Possibly the most interesting game of the season for me. Well balanced armies and well balanced but interesting terrain. Each army with a small advantage it needed to exploit. In the end, my slightly more powerful cavalry were more useful than the Arab slightly better infantry. GG.

First Time Control check on Sunday 23rd February . . .
It is necessary in a tournament of this size (over 60 players) that a certain amount of behind-the-scenes monitoring is done to make sure the competition is progressing smoothly. In the first few weeks of a season, the main concern for me is to make sure everyone has started playing and that there are no non-starters sitting in a division just holding everything up. This is quite a rare occurrence, but it does happen from time to time.
So the first Time Control check for this season is coming up this Sunday, 23rd February. Players are asked to complete one match in each section they have entered by then. Players who have entered the Themed Event have an exemption from this first check as they are required to concentrate on the group stage matches. I will start the checking process in a couple of days time so that I can identify any problems by Sunday.
I will also check the multi-player lobby to see if there are any challenges that are over 10 days old that may have been missed in what is always a very hectic start to the season.
