Prestige loss in strategic bombing

Post by PanzerCro »

What is parameter for amount of loss prestige when you are doing strategic bombing ? When I do strategic bombing with germans enemy usually lose 4 prestige and when bombing with allies (and soviets) then germans lose 10 prestiges ?!

It has to do with weather, stars of experience Strat Bomber has and how many overstrength you have on your strat.

I think the max damage you can do to prestige is 40 for sunny day bombing Main Objective with 5 star 15 str Bomber

Correct me if any of this is wrong

Thanks ! I will check it when my strat.bomber gets to five stars :)

I assume same applies for reducing unit(s) ammo and fuel ?!

According to a post by Rudankort in 2015:
Efficiency is (20+10*stars)*strength/maxstrength

For units with max strength 10 (almost all units), this can be simplified to
Efficiency % = Strength * (2 + Stars)

So a new strat bomber at 10 strength has efficiency of 10 x (2 +0) = 20%
12 strong 2* bomber has efficiency of 12 x (2 + 2) = 48% and
15 strong 5* bomber is 15 x (2 +7) = 105%.

Efficiency affects prestige loss on a victory city hex (1 point per% efficiency), neutralisation chance (half the efficiency, rounded down), and ammo stripping. Efficiency is halved in cloudy weather.

For ammo and fuel stripping, a 5* bomber at 14 strength has efficiency of 98% which saves that expensive 5th star and hardly affects performance compared with 105%.

I'm almost completely certain that prestige loss only affects victory hexes containing cities. Curiously, you can bomb an enemy flagged city occupied by one of your own units (clearly this has to be a unit that can't capture a city) and either neutralise the city flag (if a normal hex) or strip enemy prestige (if a victory hex) without affecting your own units. This is precision bombing at its finest!

I always wondered about this. Thanks for the info, precision bombing indeed
