Graphics options in Pz2?

Post by LandMarine47 »

I am not sure if this has been addressed in another thread, but what kind of option will Pz2 have when it comes to messing with the games graphics? Will there be options to make the game look more classic like PzC 1, or will the option only deal with the units and their sizes vs tweaking the actual game map visually?

Afaik no option to make it look like old PC.

I get where this is coming from. I was very skeptical of the graphics, but after playing a while I quite like the new look.

Confusing and bizarre at first but you get used to it "after playing a while" is a problematic state. Many prospective buyers will judge it by the screenshots. Many people who buy it will judge it by the first few minutes.

I realize we forget this after playing Panzer Corps for a while, but from a novice perspective Panzer Corps is a really hard game. The combat results are based on lengthy and opaque formulae. An attack that seems like it should work can fail for all sorts of non-obvious reasons that are never explained to you (supporting fire, entrenchment, ambush, weather). Further saddling it with graphics that make it very hard to tell whose units are yours, what unit class something is, or the difference between different units in a class (all infantry look the same), is not a benefit. But I don't think Slitherine will figure that out because they've played the Alpha long enough to have gotten used to it. They now seen the minuscule differences between infantry units as being plenty, just as a bug collector can tell the difference between 1,000 types of black shiny beetles.

Skeptical, as in I'm an old player, thinking: this 3D stuff, is it really needed?

Turns out it isn't just needed, the end result is very pleasing.
