Cross-Platform: Mac/PC using CEAW 1.06

Post by Diplomaticus »

Folks,

Happycat and I have been trying to start up a game, but so far it's not working. We're both using version 1.06; I'm a Mac, he's a PC.

We've attempted to make this work in both directions, and we're both getting the same error message when it attempts to load: "Exception: this game was saved in a previous version of the game and cannot be loaded."

Can anybody offer help with this? Has anybody out there had success in cross-platform PBEM?

I don't believe the PC and MAC versions are compatible. However; it's best to hear from someone official at Slitherine to confirm or refute this.

Sorry no they are not. We didn't develop the MAC version so don't really have any control/influence over it.

Well, that's funny, because the new Slitherine page for CEAW now advertises the game as follows:

Really... that's news to me!

As I said, we don't really have any control over what happens on MAC! :)
