"Skoutatoi and Archers" model problem

Post by Witan »

I have noticed that the "Skoutatoi and Archers" model from the later byzantine list, more specifically the archer units are not using any weapon in close combat. I am not sure if this is intended, but for me it looks quite strange, especially because other massed archers also use a sword in the animation while fighting in close combat.

Thanks for pointing this out. the animator did not put swords in their hands for the melee idle animation. I don't think that is entirely unreasonable for this particular unit as they are unlikely to have to fight hand to hand and the unit is not rated as swordsmen - whearas the others you refer to are.

However, if the model animations are ever revisited....

I already thought about this after posting... So yes, you are surely right, but still it kooks quite odd that the bow units do nothing... maybe a shooting animation would do it...

But yeah, there are surely other things that are more important right now...
