BETA Berserker Mod
Just released today!
Please note - this is a BETA mod and is still being balanced. If you have any feedback on the mod please post your comments in this forum.
In this mod you will get vastly resricted amounts of fame. This means that if you lose a battle badly you may noit even have enough to replace all your men. You'll have to decide who to replace and make sure you minimize casualties. This adds a whole new dimension to gameplay. Missions that used to be easy are now transformed as you care how many casualties you take. This is actually what we intended Legion Arena to be about, but some players found it too hard and we had to scale back the role of fame.
We hope you enjoy the mod!
Install Notes
1) Point the unzip operation at your Legion Arena directory. This is usually C:\Program Files\BlackBean\LegionArena. The zipfile will create a \mod directory and the \berserker directory under that.
Download mod pack from www.slitherine.com/LegionArena/files/Mods_27_4_06.zip

Thanks for feedback. What would be really useful is a guide to how much spare fame you have after each battle. If you could track that & let me know it woudl be great!
I need to reduce the fame at the beginning and beef it up at the end. I want you to be counting the cost of replacements all the way through.

Just downloaded. I'm still in Brit campaign at Rubicon river.
And I'm thinking about modding 平将門(taira masakado) around AD890s.
One of famous samurai in early era.

Brit campaign? At the Rubicon? OMG, somebody is actually playing it! Tora, thank you. You have no idea how much better this makes me feeltora_tora_tora wrote:Just downloaded. I'm still in Brit campaign at Lubicon river.

Up to this point, as far as I knew, Ian had played the first 3 battles only, and nobody else had even looked at it. And I was feeling very unhappy about that. I mean, I was prepared to be harshly criticised, but I wasn't prepared to be totally ignored, LOL.
Tora, I'd really, really like to talk to you about your impressions of the Britannicus campaign at some point. When you're done, if you plan to finish, or at the point where you quit, if you don't finish. Up to this point, I've had no feedback at all beyond the first 3 battles, and damn little on those =)
This berserker mod looks like fun. I'll have to check it out.

Woohoo! Finally, after waiting 46 years, I get my 15 minutes of fameiainmcneil wrote:Yes
Check out the new on the website. It's now hosted on slitherine.com
28 downloads since yesterday when it was put up.

(Obscure reference to a quote from Woody Allen, who said, "In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.")
That's very cool, Ian, very cool indeed. My grateful thanks.

Yes, I think it was Andy Warhol
OK, one thing about you guys hosting the Britannicus mod at slitherine.com
You have reproduced the readme, which is very nice. And you re-ordered it to put the Player Notes at the top, which is fine. But in doing so, you omitted the all-important Run Notes
Run Notes
1) Start the game. If you did the install right, you should see a screen asking you what mod to use. The two choices are "None" and "Brit".
2) Start a new campaign, choose the Celtic Campaign.
Without that part, the player has no idea what to do with the mod. I'm haunted by the image of somebody starting a new ROMAN campaign instead, and going "WTF, this is no different, this mod is bull****!"
Thanks for listening

well, I'm starting all over from the start in Brit campaign. My army have no hope at Rubicon river, as I got too many scouts and javelinmens.tora_tora_tora wrote:Just downloaded. I'm still in Brit campaign at Rubicon river.

I need warriors and fanatics. And I never realized lv.5 leginonaries could be such stout, hard to kill foes.

Honestly, I have never tried using Fanatics myself. I tend to favor Warriors and Veterans and Heavy Cavalry. But I'm delighted to hear that you are playing the Britannicus campaign and enjoying ittora_tora_tora wrote:well, I'm starting all over from the start in Brit campaign. Hi,
I am running through this mod at the Hard level on the Roman campaign and have just reached the fire devils (cannot remember whether that is the correct name) with advanced formations.
My leader has run out of skill options (he still gets a + but nothing to add).
My perception is that the final battles with regular troops were rather easy (essentially just press go and leave them to it) but the battles with CoM forces were almost impossibly hard (on the same scale that the regular battles were easy).
Its a challenge ok but possibly a bit of a big step?

The CoM missions are tougher than the basic game and it is possible to get an army that stands little chance against them, but we wanted the CoM missions to be a challenge for players who were finding the basic game too easy. It was very difficult to balance LA because of the system and its one of the major changes in Arena Wariors. The new system will work much much better!

LOL, I'm with Tex. And stopped at the exact same point he is, first battle with the fire demons.
This may sound odd coming from me, of all people, but CoM is just incredibly difficult. Maybe too much so.
And to think I worried about some of the battles in my Britannicus campaign being too hard! They're a cakewalk compared to CoM...
And that leads me to a question. It talks about "the old man" and "the old man's troops". Was I supposed to get some actual troop units, or was that just storyline verbiage?
