FOG II Failure to Update

I have FOG II and 4 of the modules. I just bought the Wolves module and find the FOG II needs an update for Wolves to play.

I always get a update notice on starting FOG II but the update sequence never has worked.

I tried again today to update it: FOG II update 1.5.23exe from update 3. Message is Unable to download file error.

I find all this very frustrating as there is no clear route to fix it and I have a lot of invested gaming material hung up.

What can be done?

The update is just in the process of going live. I recommend trying again a bit later

Looks like the download is nearly 1Gb in size - this could explain why its timing out (if indeed it is).

Yes the updater is about 1Gb in size.

I'm also having a hard time to update Command, Armored Brigade, and FoG2. I finally got the update to download using the direct link on the "my page" and going to FoG's direct download link. I am currently in South East Asia for a couple of months, and normally download through the game's menu launcher without issue.

Looking at the download speed, perhaps it would be possible to double or even triple the timeout feature on the updater to allow lower bandwith or higher latency connections chance to connect?

I'm no expert, but when I am pinging the ftp.matrixgames.com server I am getting a ping time of 516ms average. I am able to connect consistently, just not download.

The issue is not in our side. Most probably your ISP does traffic shaping when downloading from ftp servers.
