Anyway, as the title says, i am in need of a large number of pictures for scenarios i am making. Does anyone have a source or a folder of pictures of the appropriate size that i can use? Looking for pictures of the right format online can be quite the chore, so if anyone can lend a hand that would be quite nice.

Re: Looking for pictures
Eh, why not? The whole purpose of this forum is to share things with each other, and many of these photos are available as part of downloadable custom content.
So here is my collection, as of December 1, 2019 (143.4 MB): Photos
The folder named "Mine" contains all of the photos that I have acquired and edited over the years. The folder named "OOB" contains photos from DLC (up to version 6 or 7, I think; they were extracted by a Slitherine moderator and provided to the community gratis a while back).
I believe all of them (mine for sure) are already in the required PNG format and cropped to the ideal size of 512 x 415 pixels. Combined, there are 690 photos in all.
Enjoy. May they inspire you.

Re: Looking for pictures
This is amazing! Thank you very much!
I have always enjoyed black and white recordings/pictures from the ww2 era (especially japanese ones as those always seemed the rarest) so having almost 700 pictures to attach to my events is quite nice.
Cheers again.

DR, you're welcome. My pleasure.
When the fellow from Slitherine did that, a one-time favor, it became the contents of the "OOB" folder mentioned above. The favor has not been repeated since; it apparently is a complicated process of extracting content contained in certain specialized data files.terminator wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 7:42 am I remember somewhere there’s a zip file to download with "all" the official images of the game, but where![]()

It’s not that complicated if you know the technique, it’s like extracting the icons from the units.bru888 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 2:08 pm DR, you're welcome. My pleasure.

I remember that a member of the team had posted a file with all the images but impossible to find (there are problems with the forum search engine, I have a blank page after a while).

Re: Looking for pictures
Heh, which is the count in that "OOB" folder that I mentioned. Same pictures, I assure you.
I have to check recent DLC; are they including their images directly in the scenario folders now instead of those impenetrable .assets files? I'll see and report back.
EDIT: Interesting. One must go all the way back to U.S. Pacific and Rising Sun days to when they did not include images directly in the scenario folders. Said another way, Morning Sun was the first DLC campaign to not use .assets files for this purpose. They must have compiled a collection of images they thought would be used in future DLC - hence 331 images - but that perhaps changed when they started using guest designers? I don't know.
Anyway, I will not be sharing any of those newer DLC photos. They are part of paid content that have not been made public by the designers or Slitherine. They may be available in some manner anyway but it's not my place to offer them here.

Re: Looking for pictures
I wondered where I'd put that zip file
Yes, these are the images that are wrapped up in the base game assets. If you just put the image name (without the file extension) then you don't need to include the image in your scenario, the game will automatically use the files from the base game.
As such, you should never need to use these images (all of which are out of copyright anyway I believe)
