Lake max 12 MU's?

Post by Robert241167 »

Hi everyone

Am I correct in assuming that an impassable lake can only fit inside a 12 MU's circle as it is only allowed one selection?

Thanks

You can have 2 in the Mountains so a larger piece, up to 16MU, is possible.

Probably better with 2 single features though?

Pete, I now have this vision of two 12MU orbs side by side on the table. One Million BC, anyone?

I have always wondered why the impassable terrain has no listed visibility effects. What if it is something that sticks out of the ground rather than a lake?

I believe it is for you to define? So it could be a mountain or a lake.

Visibility would not make too much difference for impassable terrain. You will never look at something in it. Something beyond it will be out of effective bow range as it must be at least 4x6MU. I suppose you could ambush behind it, and shoot across at long range.

A ruling may be useful.

In the Tactical Tips post it says "Impassable lakes or quarries are depressions that don’t block line of sight while Impassable hills or other elevations do." (paragraph 620). This is logical but I can't find it in the rules; in particular it is missing from p. 131 where the rules on visibility for terrain are listed.

For artillery purposes?

Now that would be fun, artillery in ambush...
