How To Update Erik's Campaigns Already In Progress - so I am half way through Germany 39-40 and want to update to Erik's newest 1.6 release - how to do that so that I don't overwrite my progress-to-date?

Usually it should be enough to keep the most recent campaign save file. When you update anything you can load it afterwards and progress from there. Make sure it's the correct one, as various cams have their own cam save files, with [***campaign name***] added to tell them apart.

Watch out for something like [***EriksCampaignName***](Campaign).saz

So in short:

1. Update stuff
2. Load the most recent campaign save to continue

Not that this procedure will make sure that you start the updated version of any scenarios left to play in your current campaigns.
But, I do not think it will catch any updates to the campaign file itself. Usually these are minor anyway.

I really enjoyed the first part of the German 39-40 campaign, some very crafty and tough a.i. though. Going to be heading into France soon now that Norway is done.
