Good Morning,
I've posted in the Scenario Design Forum but got no joy there, so I'll ask Tech Support.
Do the external files for editing exist on the MAC version (8.1.0) [64-bit]. These are the files that exist under the \Content\Data Folder on what Windows version.
If there is no way to have and edit these files on the MAC and the only editing you can do is through the in-game editor, then cool, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something in my search for them. And I have search my complete hard drive including hidden folders with nothing that matches the Windows folder structure or files.
Thanks!
Henry Hudson
MAC Version - Files for editing?

Re: MAC Version - Files for editing?
Hm, I don't own a Mac, so I have to ask the tech guys for that.
But under Win those are inside the main game installation - is this easy to locate on a Mac?
edit: and is it a Steam version or not?
With Steam the install path would be rather different.

Re: MAC Version - Files for editing?
bebro,
Thanks for your reply. I have the non-steam version. There is only the Users\Henry\Order of Battle - WW2 folder and it doesn't contain any .txt or .csv files and a search of the whole hard drive with hidden folders showing finds none of the files that are listed by bru888 in the \Content\Data folder in Windows. Hopefully one of the developers with chime in as to whether the MAC version does not include those files and the ability to create custom content except in the Windows version.

This almost makes me want to buy a Mac in order to find out and answer the question.hlhudson wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 4:07 pm bebro,

Instead I did the next best thing: a little research. If this works, please come back to tell us so that we may help future Mac users with the same question.
Just recently, Lifewire published "How to Launch Applications on a Mac" and if you scroll down to the section called "Program Files Directory," it says this:
So, you are looking for the Applications folder, which is the equivalent of Program Files in Windows. Remember: OOB has its program files in one location and its gameplaying (custom, settings, saves) in another. I told you elsewhere that the Users\Henry\Order of Battle - WW2 folder is probably Mac's version of the latter. The Lifewire article tells you how to find the Applications folder in Mac.
Next, I found these: "Where are the program files located?" and "Equivalent to "Program Files" folder?" They are admittedly old posts but I'm willing to bet that the concept is still the same. Inside Applications are "packages" or "cabinet" -type folders for each of your programs. Just clicking will merely select the folder and double-clicking will start the application. As it says in these sources, trying right-clicking the one that's named "Order of Battle" or "OOB" or something like that and looking for an option like "Show Package Contents":
If that does get you into a folder that looks like this one from Windows, congratulations!
But you are on your own at that point. As you probably can surmise, there are no other users modding OOB in Mac here, or they are reluctant to come forth. Perhaps you can be our expert! I can offer you one more tip, however: Windows does not like you tinkering with files directly in Program Files. Perhaps Mac is the same. The workaround is to copy the file in question and paste it elsewhere for editing (and some other place for safekeeping, just in case). Edit it there, then copy it back into the Mac's Applications/OOB folder. If you can, that is. I would assume so, but you may wish to do your own research concerning "Game Modding on a Mac."

Re: MAC Version - Files for editing?
bru888,
I must confess that I am a LOOOONG time Windows gamer and have just recently moved to using a MAC. You have gone above and beyond in providing information that I should have discovered on my own - the interweb is at my fingertips too...
Thank you very much for your assistance and for everything you're doing to make OOB that much better.
I have found the files and will attempt to investigate and use what I'm reading here to possibly put together some scenarios of my own.
Regards!

Re: MAC Version - Files for editing?
The game files that are accessible under Windows should be on a Mac too, I've been told.
I can't test it without a Mac obviously, but the path should be like "/Resources/Data/Content".

Re: MAC Version - Files for editing?
Good thread all around, Henry. I am sure that you will not be the last Mac user with this question. Thanks for reporting back successful results finding the files.
