Not able to access FOG2 multiplayer - needs update!

This is a repeat of what happened on Oct 28 except there was initially a small update today.

I have not been able to access multiplayer in the last few minutes. There was a small update ~ 6.8 MB but no problem with the update and I verified all my game files via Steam. I now receive an error saying I do not have the latest game update and I need to hit ok to proceed to update. I have done that, but there is no further update. I had no problems with playing multiplayer turns last night. I access FOG2 through Steam and I have all the DLCs and the August update. I have Windows 10 with all the updates and I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 video card.

Please advise as I have digital league games to play today.

Conceivably, but that happens every time there is an update. If it is affected the change won't be much.

The game has been updated to v1.5.21. If you have that version MP should now be working.

I have just tried it with the STEAM and standalone versions, and they worked fine.

Conceivably, but that happens every time there is an update. If it is affected the change won't be much.

Sadly we cannot always time updates to coincide with the end of an automated tournament. And even if we did, there would still be ongoing digital league games that might be affected.

I am now able to access multiplayer.

However I am not pleased as in my digital league games, I am using in some cases significant numbers of raw hoplites and losing the +1 CT modifier, in my opinion, is a big deal. It would have been nice to have some warning this was going to occur.

Sorry, whenever we update the game it is going to have an effect on some on-going games.

The changelog for the open beta, including this change, was posted here:

The new rules have been run in Open Beta, and found not to have a drastic effect on raw hoplites, but of course there will be some.

I want to tell you this update for FOGII IS ENTIRELY OBNOXIOUS! I have tried so far 4 times to download the update (nearly a gig). The first time estimate was 6 hrs. the first time I made through it took 2 hrs. But each time ended with an error. I tried from the opening screen "check for updates" and from the website download screen.

There must be some way to modularize the download. Or to queue people so the server is not brought to its knees. It doesn't take this long to download windows or Office. I am not happy.

Since I got it to work, I did not try to download from the website. I am UK based.
