The 1st Anniversary of the Burton FOG tournament! - we couldn't quite get to 50, with a few drop outs because of the weather. We still had 92 competitors and it was a very well natured tournament. Thanks to all who attended

Hope you can all make it next year for the Dark Ages!

Simon :)

I didn't play the Huns, nor did Tim.

I believe that they were all mounted but that is about all I can report

What was Dave and Gordon's Kyrenean Greek list like? Did they use a Libyan ally? Armoured or protected hoplites?

Were the Dom Rom armies all swarms, or was there more variety?

The top two Dom Roms were of the 9 BGs of armoured MF plus lots of superior shooters variety. I think we had 19 BGs, Dave & Jon had 20. We had one BG of equites, they had one of cataphracts and one of poor MF as 'filler'.

I can't comment about the other Dom Roms as I didn't see them

Don't have the details with me but it was more or less:

7 BGs of 8 Hoplites, all armoured, 3 drilled
3 BGs of 4 HCh, LtSp
4 or 5 BGs of LF

Designed to push Dom Roms and Steppe armies off the table but we didn't get to play either!

I think our results were lose, win, draw, win.

Thanks. I might try a scaled down version of that at 800 pts. Previously I've used the hoplites as protected and taken the lancers and thureophoroi and not found the army particularly effective. At 800 it nowhere near fills the table though, so the mounted and swarm armies might just go round it.

You may find that at 800 points you can afford to have armoured hoplites in a single rank in places at least. The HCh BGs are wide and maneuverable, it might work well.

Wide, yes, but manoeuvrable? They are "Other undrilled" and move only 1 MU faster than the hoplites.

I doubt that the organiser will but some of the players have. I have a half completed report but have yet to post it.
