Magic Money

Post by Vadim84 »

Two thoughts about 1.04 after 80/90 turns as Epirus :

-IA now knows how to use fleets, that is a big plus. Lots of blockades, took me a while to reunify Greece as Epirus does not start with a decent fleet/harbor. Macedonia is now almost over, unfortunately, Antigonids and Seleukos already imploded which means I can (probably) win the game just by swallowing the new small states which now occupy the former Antigonid realm. Antigonid literally suddenly disappeared (all provinces turned grey) and 2 turns after Pergamon and the likes mushroomed here and there. But the power fleets of the greek city-states were a real pain to deal with, congrats.

-leads to my main point : money. While it was indeed too easy to become rich and less money/more pop in commerce is a good fix, the result is somehow random. Quick example :

turn 71, I forgot how much I had but it was written X (current value)(+105) when I press the Nex turn button. I then expected to get X+105. But what I got (T72) was "70 (+99)". Ok, nevermind. Next turn, T73, money went to "56 (+71)". Why ? When I go to T72, my T72 money has nothing to do with the values given during T71, same, T73 money is not the Value(+/-modifier) [here, T72 10(+99)] given in T72. I just know if I will get or lose money, which was ok in this campaign but can be a hell in other situations.
It was like that pretty much during the whole game. I just wrote down these 3 turns after I decided I wanted to post something here. Forces me to do a lot of micro-management because suddenly it goes down too sharply, suddenly I gain too much and can instead promote infrastructure, etc...bit of a burden. M fine with transfering pop from A to B but not every turn/2 turns because I suddenly face bankruptcy whereas I was supposedly at TX(+134) 1 turn ago (and never got these 134 denarii).
Have to say, also happened when my main provinces are not blockaded.

Also, tried Antigonids, seems impossible as I just bankrupt really quickly. Can't handle 5 wars + decadence + bankruptcy, if someone did it I would be very interested about his strategy because I can not think of anything.

I've noticed this too, I'm wondering if these variations may be due to population movements as I've seen the AI move population roles and if they move from money or culture to somewhere else then it will affect the money generated.

Either way, there is definitely something odd happening with some of the fundamental calculations; food, money, etc.

+1 seen it too. I've no idea anymore what my gold will be next turn.
