Ancient Spanish Ally ??

Post by Blathergut »

The Army is Lusitanian w Sertorius.

Is it legal to:

a) Have an ally Celtiberian Commander w a 10pak HF BG + 6pak HF BG + 8pak LF Jav BG
b) also have in the army another 10pak Celtiberian HF as mercenaries?

Suddenly was wondering just where the minima/maxima are deducted from. Or, if taking an allied Celt. commander, does he have to have a minima of 28HF since that's the minima for Celtiberians? Or does it all come out of the mercenary line and therefore I'd be over the maxima by 2 HF??

Yes, it's legal.

The ally contingent must conform to the ally list. It does.

Furthermore, for 'internal' allies, the total including allies must be within the maxima of the main list. Thus the 8 LF caetrati in the ally do come out of the 110 total in the main list (and indeed also reduce the minimum for the rest of the army to only 4). But this doesn't affect the MF/HF, since the the Lusitanian heavy caetrati, the Celtiberian scutarii and the Mercenary Celtiberians are three separate entries on the main list; taking one doesn't reduce the available number of the others.

Best wishes,
Matthew
