Retreat should not save you from Ambush

if you mean that a retreating unit doesn't trigger an ambush:
This is not a design decision but a technical limitation which we haven't solved yet.

I think he's talking about a unit triggering an ambush, but it's retreat probability triggers and it takes no damage.

Yes, I mean the ability "Retreat" from Skirmishers, Wolf Mothers and such shouldn't work when being ambushed. But what Chris mentioned as well. This happend to me quite alot with retreating Witch doctors running into my trackers

Perhaps they could cancel each other. If the unit with the retreat ability is ambushed and its retreat chance occurs, it stops and takes no damage from the ambush.
