Gebirgsjager

Post by stormbringer3 »

Do Gebirgsjager lose their Alpine movement ability if they are equipped with a vehicle? I've gone through old posts and some people say that they lose the Alpine movement and others say that they don't lose it. Which is correct?
Thanks for any info.

They do not lose alpine move with a vehicle.
But If they use alpine move they may lose the vehicle.
Like para at an airport, you are asked if you want to give up your land transport.
This is from memory, so I may be wrong.

Thanks for the answer. Does it work as follows, if the Gebirgsjager uses only his basic movement it is Alpine, but if he moves further bringing the vehicle into play none of it is Alpine?

Since the process is to embark, then move, most definitely.
The embarking is done automatically, notice if you cancel a 'long' move your unit will be in its transport you must disembark for normal action, like to fire.

Some terrain can't be entered by units that have transport even if they could normally enter (thick forest for infantry and high mountain for alpine). I don't know if this applies to horse transports and to transports with alpine move (eg mules that are horse transport with alpine trait). I don't have convenient access to movement tables or play testing right now so can't confirm this.
