Naval Attack value versus Mechanical?

Post by Nethog »

Totally new to OOB. Can anyone please tell me why ships only list an Attack value for Infantry but not Mechanical units?

I'm not sure what you are asking. Battleships, cruisers, and destroyers all have infantry and vehicle attack factors. There is a "mechanical" attack and defense type but I confess to not knowing what that is, exactly; I assume it has something to do with animation.

Anyway, this cruiser can attack either the infantry or the tank:

In your post you show a chart with naval units and yes there is a column "veh att" which I assume is the Attack factor for Mechanical units. But the game UI does not show this factor in the detailed unit stats (select a Cruiser or Destroyer and click "i") - it only shows Infantry. From your chart it appears that the value of the Attack factor is the same for both Infantry and Mechanical for all ships - perhaps this is why a mechanical Attack value is not listed?

Those decide which stats are gonna be used if the unit's attacking or being attacked. I'm not quite sure myself, but I think it's about the defense stats and the return damage. AT-guns for example will use "mechanical" stats for attacking and "infantry" for defense.

Not all stats are listed in the UI, even if you do not choose the "summarised" stats in the settings. Topedo damage, for example.
And yes, all naval units have the same attack stats vs. "land" (inf/mechanical) - except some amphibious types.

Ok thanks for your feedback. Now I know when a naval unit attacks ground units the Attack factor shown for infantry also applies to all other ground units

It’s the same for Artillery, vehicle attack = infantry attack :

Thanks for the clarification. I had already assumed this since the Defensive Combat Type for Artillery is Infantry.
