Upcoming FoG Tournaments

Post by nikgaukroger »

This sticky is for holding announcements of FoG competitions after announcements have been in the forum for some time. This is to keep the forum useable.

Please post announcement separately and the moderators will move them here as required.

Tournaments that have passed will be deleted for neatness so hopefully this topic will only contain upcoming competitions.

SoA Battle Day - 25 April - Milton Keynes, GB

Post by nikgaukroger »

The next Battle Day will take place on Saturday 25 April 2009, at the
usual venue in Bletchley near Milton Keynes

The 2009 battle will be Callinicum 531 AD.
An Eastern Roman (or Byzantine if you prefer) army led by Belisarius
against a Saasanid Persian army.

We will be principally following the Geoffrey Greatrex interpretation
as in "Roma and Persia at War, 502-532"

We aim for the Battle Pack to be produced in the next month.

More details to follow...

Some info from last years Battle Day - http://www.soa.org.uk/battleday.asp

Introduction

As part of the National Wargames League, Milton Keynes Wargames Society will again be offering an interesting selection of periods for the 15mm Ancients competition at Campaign. This year the rules used will be Field of Glory. The periods have been carefully chosen to provide a challenging novel wargaming tournament experience at the same time to produce a spectacle for visitors from well known eras of history. Six periods were presented and a vote by last year’s teams honed the selection to the final three.

For entry information, visit the National Wargames League Page.

The 15mm Ancients competition is a BHGS Ranking Tournament.

See also 25mm Ancients Tournament and 15mm Renaissance Tournament.

General Rules

1. A team consists of three players. A player playing in each of the 3 periods.
2. Rules Field of Glory.
3. Only the armies listed in each of the periods may be selected. This is further limited to the time ranges specified for the periods.
4. An ally may only be selected if it appears in the list of armies for the period.
5. The army size.
6. The team army list should be E-mailed to Packwide@aol.com no later than date extended to 30 April 2007.

COAST CON MARCH 20-22, 2009 Biloxi Mississippi, USA

Post by nikgaukroger »

COAST CON 32 FOG TOURNAMENT
MARCH 20-22, 2009

800 Points
5 Games (3 Highest Scores from Friday and Saturday + Sunday)
2 Lists
Any Armies from Books with US Release Prior to Feb 1st, 2009
Lists must be submitted by March 7th, 2009 Ref TBD
3.5 hours plus Random Time (Finishing current Phase)

Players will have the option of playing 1 game on Friday Night and 3 Games Saturday.
If 5 games are played the player’s Highest 3 scores plus Sunday Morning’s Score will be used for determination of final score.

First Count Back will be Head to Head
Second Count back will be total combined final score of opponents played.
Third Count back (if needed) will be Generals Killed and Camps Sacked.

I will need a list of players planning to play on Friday so that match ups can be planned.
First Round Match ups will pit out-of-towners. Subsequent rounds will be strictly based on score pairing eliminating re-matches.

I am announcing this tournament this far in advance because the
Super 8 Motel
1870 Beach Blvd.
Biloxi, MS 39531
(228) 385-7925
is only offering the discounted convention rate of $89 plus tax per night to those making reservations prior to December 31, 2008. After this date the rate jumps to a ridiculous $169. It is anticipated that the hotel will fill up quickly so I recommend making reservations even if you are just considering attending at this time.

There is also currently a pre-registration fee of $35 for the Con until 1/1/09 and $40 between then and 2/24/09. It will be $45 at the door. So again pre-registration is important. I am seeking Prize support from Coast Con so that we do not have to charge additional fees for the tourney.

Being fairly centrally located for Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia It would be great to make this a large tournament for consideration of Grand Slam Status in 2010.
