Multi-Player Error

Post by Morbio »

I don't know if anyone else has seen this...

We are continuing with any obvious problems, but I'm wondering what may cause it and what potential errors we may encounter?

Generally indicates on or more of the players has modded the game in some way.

I have had a couple of mp games give me that warning.

I generally put a message out asking the person who has modded the game to leave it and if messages persist I leave the game as it is possible a player is unfairly gaining an advantage as a result....(unbelievable that someone would choose to do that but there you are).

Got the same error message in multiple games. Believe your comment is a correct assessment. Now, I am getting an error on the opening page. Its related to apps. Once I start the game it is a non-event.

Presumably the server dictates what happens in the game, so someone having a local mod can't give any advantage as resolution happens on the server. I assume the only risk is that invalid moves get sent to the server and this may cause the game to fail or process with errors... is that the case?

Maybe some system should be in place that warns players they have a modded game, just before they click to join and play a turn in a MP game.

Perhaps a MP match setting, where if the maker of the match chooses, he can choose that whenever someone goes to play a turn on his match, his files are first verified in steam, and if found unmatching, the regular files are downloed (just like verifiyng your files on steam, basically).
