A (Hopefully Not) Brief History of Iberii

Post by Blathergut »

In our dusty, quiet corner of the Iberian peninsula, we have heard rumours of mighty nations fighting one another for supremacy. Our wise leader has decided, along with his council, to begin a similar march (literally + figuratively) to glory. I, with my humble scribblings, hope future generations will read and admire the energies of our people in this time.

I begin with our leader, Vabalatos, unrivalled among leaders (except for perhaps the ease with which the human tongue can pronounce his name):

No wonder you chose this AAR with Superman as leader.

My current Dacian halfwit is so suspicious of his military that I am allowed the grand total of 1 General (who naturally is a political appointee by the insecure imbecile) and as well as being a coward boasts the awe inspiring 0-1 combat ability........

This indignity of this is heightened by the fact that the glorious leader has been on death's door for about ten years but refuses to leave this mortal coil without a personally delivered letter from the Good Lord himself😏

Vabalatos begins a building campaign in the settlements of our land.

Baecula, the capital, will focus on military buildings and be the centre of our massive smarmy swarms of soldiers. It begins with an Archery building.
Tagus quickly builds Clear Water, then begins a massive Farms development.
Oretania builds a Ranch.
Orospeda goes for Hemp Farm.

[Food seems to be the first priority. Tagus is offered Stud Farm but I don't want to repeat what is already built in Baecula so goes with the quick-to-build Clear Water, hoping for a better shuffle. We luck out. Next turn Tagus goes for Farm. Neighbouring Baecula will eventually import wool for the Archery building and provide the farm with a bonus. Neighbouring Oretania is building a Ranch and will provide a bonus as well. :D ][Someone will need to build a Sheep Farm soon!]

[The army remains in place for now. I'd rather wait for an objective in one of my provincial areas and then form the province. Am in no rush (though neighbours may nab the places first and cause is a major war).)

Year 6 Since the Founding of the Empire

Having studied his whole life, training both in physical deeds and mental tactics, our great hero General Endovelicos managed to catch a spear point first in his second battle. Two regions were captured at the time of his death, both to the west of our lands. One, Anas, where the hero met his end, allowed the creation of our first province. Life is good! However (There always seems to be 'Howevers' in this brief bit of light we call life, no?) Saguntum, wretched wretches that they are, declared war upon our tranquil, peaceful nation. Our armies move east to deal with them, including additional heavy infantry and some very niftily dressed provincial cavalry! 8)

Our armies met the wretched Saguntum wretches in honourable battle and vanquished them. Our lands grow! However (There it is again!), Lusitania declared war on us. A two-front predicament! Oh, the gods are cruel in how they toss us our fates! The army, hoping the Saguntumians (or whatever they call themselves) would lay off for a tad or too, marched back west to deal with the new foe. Would they arrive in time?
