If they are good at FoG2, I don't mind. It's painful watching someone stumble incompetently through a FoG2 battle for the better part of a 30-minute video though.
Re: Anyone else find it annoying that Youtubers .....
also, isn't it a bit "cheaty" to export the battle

I don't care to watch the FOG II battles so I just skip past them. It does make for some short episodes, though.

I am one that is very thankful for the 'Youtubers'.
Folks like 'DasTactic', for example, are willing to put in their time to show off multiple aspects of a game.
Most of them, freely, admit to not being experts per the particular game they are showcasing; but they certainly give the consumer a good look at what they may or may not purchase.
Each has their own style & no one is forced to watch them.
I miss TotalBiscuit.

Dastactic is one of my favorite channels - its just that a lot of Youtubers (Das included) often jump to FoG2 despite the video supposedly being about Empires, and can spend more time in FoG2 than the game they are actually advertising as playing.
Its no big deal really, i just would like to see more of Empires, and managing your troop types/terrain/etc is far less important when you can just export the game to a more player friendly environment i.e. i am watching someone bypass difficult game situations rather than learn from them problem solving in the Empires game.
Also, bearing in mind a) the number of views tends to drop off after the first batch of episodes, and b) the length of time FoG2 battles take, i wonder how many Empires game turns will get played before series just stop and we don't get to see any mid to late game action.

Having a broader frontage and thus not being outwinged on either flank is a key element of victory. In real life, and FOG2 a smaller army might maneuver for a secure position or use flank guards and terrain against a more numerous foe. A high quality force of legions can greatly benefit from this on the map while its narrow front can be punished by automatic resolution. Detachments are likely to be overrun if this dynamic works as it seems.
In that vein, my Romans vs Senones were outnumbered over 2:1 But I maneuvered to a hill slope where positioning and aggressive use of Roman light foot and horse and the enemy's need to wheel their center and right to cross over left made it easier to handle the onslaught and generate a very high loss ratio for the Senones.
Showing battles like that one is very helppful.

Yeah. The FoG2 thing really got me where I wanted both, but after watching some videos and also playing, I'm kind of digging the battles that are resolved in the Empires battles viewer.
