Re: Launch problems?
I am now having issues with the game launching. I updated the game to 7.1.8 but when I try to launch the game from the unmodded game window I get a blank screen briefly then it closes out and goes back to the desktop launch window. I have tried uninstalling the game then reinstalling the main game, dlc's to get v. 7.1.4 (i believe). then I dl and install the update, v. 7.1.8 and the same thing happens. I deleted the settings folder multiple times, didnt help and I even tried downloading the .dat file, 1024 windowed that was suggested. after that the desktop icon opened in window mode but again when I tried to launch the game from the unmodded game window, the one beside the battle of britain, it continues to close itself out and resorts back to the desktop launch window. I have never had this problem with any update or game/dlc download before so I dont know what is going on or how to fix it. I am running the game on an old computer with windows 7 32 bit. I have played the game on this computer before, last time being a few months ago, so the game will play, or should I say did play. By the way I am computer stupid so if you want any kind of file sent to you to look at you will have to state step by step every click I will have to make to make it happen just to make sure I dont miss anything because knowing me I will miss a step. thanks. paul
Re: Launch problems?
Are you sure you have downloaded the 32bit versions of both the main installation and the update??
Re: Launch problems?
im pretty sure i did. i reinstalled from my product page and i think it auto installs the 32b but in the next few days i will try again and look to make sure it is the 32 b version as im doing it. tks, i will get back to you in a few days.
Re: Launch problems?
im currently downloading the game again from the my products page. i dont see any different versions though 32 v 64 bit. there is only 1 dl for 7.1.4 pc and 1 for each pc and mac of the 7.1.8 version. i guess ill have to look after i install it and see? is there a way to see which one i am downloading before i download it 32 or 64?
Re: Launch problems?
well ive reinstalled through the download content endsieg and i have version 7.2.4 32 bit. the game will take me to the launch menu of the different games. im now going to try and download the update 7.1.8 again and see what happens.
Re: Launch problems?
7.1.8 closes the game out back to the desktop launch menu. dont know what version 32 or 64 it is since i cant open it. guess ill have to revert it back to 7.1.4 and hope for the best in the future.
Re: Launch problems?
well i went and installed the game through steam and it seems to be working...at least the unmodded window is taking to the games. i have version 7.1.8 32 bit so i guess ill have to play it on steam until this other problem gets sorted out. i believe the my product page is auto downloading the 64 b version but since i cant choose which one to dl ill just have to wait until i get my new comp or the product page is updated or something. bottom line i can play the game so that good.
Re: Launch problems?
ok it would seem that i am now having another problem launching the game. this time the steam version. i installed it the other day and played with no problems however now when i try to launch the game i get this: (window can not find ' \Order of Battle-WW2.exe'. make sure you typed the name correctly and try again.). i tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and no fix. i tried restarting my computer and still no fix. i dont know what is going on with this game now but i have had the most problems with it. first the new patch crashes my non steam version now the steam version is giving me problems. i have been playing strategic command world at world with no problems but oob is a train wreak.
Re: Launch problems?
oh should have said: i can bring up the launch menu when i click the play button in steam but when i click the play order of battle button on the launch menu is when i get the error message.

Re: Launch problems?
thanks but could you post the english version?
Re: Launch problems?
never mind i followed the pics and verified the files. it ran successfully but i still get the error message. game will not launch.
Re: Launch problems?
so how can i see which version 32 or 64 bit was installed on steam if i cant open the game after the launch menu. im still getting that .exe message even after reinstalling several times. steam auto updates and auto installs all the dlc during the reinstallation. i even uninstalled the non steam version encase that was the problem but it wasnt. i verified the files like requested and still nothing. i read where some had steam update to the 8.0 version i wounder if this is what happened. the computer i have the game on is a 32 bit version so again wondering if steam is auto updating the 64 bit version without me knowing. anyway i dont know what else to do.
Re: Launch problems?
well this is interesting. my steam version works now. i believe it was the premature 8.0 update because when it wasnt working i checked the patch notes and it showed the 8.0 version. today i tried logging in just to see and it worked so i checked the patch notes again and it was the 7.8 or 7.1.8 which ever so i assume that steam messed up the game trying to auto update a patch before it was ready. anyways im back to playing so all is good. now if i can just get the non steam version to work...maybe in a future update it will auto fix itself. so thanks for the help. i learned some things about steam.

Re: Launch problems?
I recently installed (and played the tutorial) for OoB WW II. Then downloaded DLC "Blitzkrieg". When I tried to open/play it, I got a message saying I needed to first download OoB WW II. "What's Up"?

Re: Launch problems?
I think you need to install 7.1.4 then update to 8.5.6.

Re: Launch problems?
Thanks to this thread I solved the black screen issue after installing OOB on my new Win10 build. Replacing the options.dat file did not work, instead I deleted the entire Settings directory. Works fine now.
Re: Launch problems?
Hi all,
I've read through this thread to see if it can help my problem, but nothing has worked yet.
Here's my situation:
After several months of not playing, I launched and played the game yesterday on Steam. Worked fine.
Today I downloaded some new custom campaigns (thanks Erik!) and added them to the folder where I already have some (that I played yesterday).
Now when I try to launch, it freezes Steam - even just trying to look at properties (to verify files or check version) or launch from desktop icon, Steam freezes. I can still open other games on Steam.
What I've tried: Remove all custom campaigns. Uninstall and reinstall. Delete Settings folder. Updated Windows 10 with restart.
Has anyone else had this situation? Thanks in advance!
