Unlimited retreat on cavalry?

These poor guys was completely surrounded.
Every time my spearmen charged them, they retreated to the pikemen below.
Then my pikemen charged them, they retreatd to the spearmen, just a ping-pong.
But I couldn't charge the pikemen on the right as I expected them would retreat out of the encircling.

So there's no limitation on how many times a cavalry can retreat in one turn?
