submarine_defense (vs. torpedo)
bombard_defense (vs. land-arty for land units)
land_defense (vs. land-AA for air units or vs. land-arty for naval units)

range (commander radius)
noAvatar (not selectable in MP)
noEditor (not selectable in editor)
generic (can be unlocked unlimited times)
noRetreat (cannot retreat)
administrator (unsupported?)
precisionStrike (more dmg vs. damaged units)
camouflaged (can only be detected by adjacent recon, infantry, and surface combat ships)
undetachable (cannot be removed from unit)

entrenchment (+x entrenchment per turn)

Thanks again, Horst. I doubt, JB72, that although your suggestion has merit, it would ever see the light of day in OOB. It would mean a ton of reprogramming and there is not much apparent activity on the part of the developers these days. Any time and effort they may be expending is in the console version of the game and perhaps an upcoming DLC. I just don't see them redesigning the game itself in this manner.

That said, it would be nice to have the game "fleshed out," so to speak. In all sorts of aspects but, for example and as we discussed in the Submarine Warfare thread, including a torpedo_attack commander bonus so that adding a commander with such a bonus to a submarine would make a significant difference in its attacking prowess. Why not? We have what looks like platoon or squad leaders in the game with various bonuses, why not a submarine commander?
