Typo in Wolves from the Sea
Noticed one rather garbled entry so far in Wolves - Carolingian Frankish, p38, Frankish "horse archers".
The quality column has Average over Drilled, whilst the training column has Undrilled.
Now, given that the points for the two options are 16 and 17, I presume the Average is a complete error, and the entry should be offering:
Cavalry, Armoured, Superior, Lancers & Swordsmen, with a choice of Undrilled at 16 pts or Drilled at 17 pts.
Oh and is it intentional that cheaper option Average quality East Frankish cavalry can dismount as Superior Off Spears as per the Army list notes?

They should be Superior with a choice of Drilled/Undrilled. The points values are correct.DBS wrote:Noticed one rather garbled entry so far in Wolves - Carolingian Frankish, p38, Frankish "horse archers".

A lot of armies have this. Look at the English medievals. They still cost at least as much as the foot versions, generally more. e.g. Mounted fyrd in the Anglo danish. Poor cav LS Sw, dismount as Av Off Sp. Who would want to stay on the horse??Oh and is it intentional that cheaper option Average quality East Frankish cavalry can dismount as Superior Off Spears as per the Army list notes?

Trying to catch LF with Poor cavalry would be a risky business indeed.lawrenceg wrote:Someone trying to catch LF?philqw78 wrote:

Yes. The Superior mounted option assumes they are equally happy fighting mounted or on foot. The Average mounted option assumes that they prefer to fight on foot. Preferences varied in different regions of East Frankia, so a free choice is allowed.DBS wrote:Oh and is it intentional that cheaper option Average quality East Frankish cavalry can dismount as Superior Off Spears as per the Army list notes?
I dunno, you get double the number of dice and re-roll 6's. You'll probably have POA advantage. All of which is embarrassing if you roll all 6's, but on the law of averages I think it's moderately safe.rbodleyscott wrote:Trying to catch LF with Poor cavalry would be a risky business indeed.lawrenceg wrote:Someone trying to catch LF?philqw78 wrote:

Wouldn't do it against Superior Swordsmen right enough.

Andalusian Error
Andalusian error pag 30-31
** is marked on page 30 as a minimum
page 31 has no items listed with **
the assumption is they refer to the Regualr spearmen since the allies are so marked on page 32....

Re: Andalusian Error
No error. It refers to the ** in the ally list.madcam2us wrote:Andalusian error pag 30-31

i.e. You can have an Andalusian ally contingent without any infantry, but if you bring any infantry you must have the minima marked **.
An Andalusian army has no option but to include infantry, including regular searmen.
