Turn Order

Took me a long while to notice, but it seems to me the turn order favours Player2 (AI & probably MP also):

1. Player1 loses his 1st turn -Turn1 only Player2 gets to move.
2. Victory Conditions are checked only after Player2 moves, so Player2 gets his turn even though it should be Game Over and gets an extra chance to recover, but Player1 does not.

Yes, I just noticed that today too. I believe its a double disadvantage as player 2 moves first to occupy terrain (usually contested hills are one or 2 moves away) and the victory conditions after player 2 as you say. On big maps with lots of turns its probably not an issue. But medium maps then I think its a playable advantage.

The second point is only true in SP games. In MP games the victory conditions are checked before each player's turn.

I see. So the AI *does* cheat a little.
