Pursuers

Post by bahdahbum »

If 2 BG break an ennemy BG and pursue . What happens if during the pursuit both pursuing units should interpenatrate . or put in another way . The fastest unit is in contact ( or not ) with the broken unit, and the other BG , if it should move a complete move would end it in the middle of the firts pursuing unit ?

I've never seen this happen and it's one of those situations where I suggest it's virtually impossible for the authors to cover within the body of the rules.

If 2 BGs are pursuing, presumably one or both were in contact and one was an overlap? So move them so that both remain in similar positions as they were. Why would they need to interpenetrate?

If only 1 BG can remain in contact due to terrain, table edge etc, then move the fastest first. And I'd suggest the other falls in behind the first.

But without seeing the circumstances on the table this is difficult to answer.

It is a very easy to have that kind of situation : one BG to the front, the other on the flank . The broken units flees not too far and you have a problem . The easy way is to say the slowest pursuer falls in behind ( from my point of view ) but is it correct ?

Pursuing BGs drop back bases to fit past other pursuing BGs. Interpenetration could only occur if the pursuers were of types that could actually interpenetrate so would be quite rare.
