"Emergency"

What does it mean if, in the saved games menu in game, one of the possibilities is "emergency"? I'm afraid to open it.

Very rarely the game will crash or have a problem. Emergency starts the game where it left off. Unless I had a really fortunate event in that turn, I ususlly delete it and go back to my previous autosave.

Thanks. I went back to the previous save anyway so all is well. Just kept "emergency" in case it was important.
