The FOG2DL is not an automated tournament, so you will be required to arrange your own matches and the season will last for 10 weeks always ending on a Sunday evening. New players are usually put with other new players in the lowest divisions unless they have achieved some major victories elsewhere, in Slitherine's own automated tournaments perhaps. You can win promotion if you do well or be relegated if you struggle (provided there is a division below you). The most successful players can win prize vouchers worth $25 to be spent in the Slitherine store.

And to all those of you who have entered before, please ask any new players you encounter in the next few weeks to consider entering Season 5 of the FOG2DL. If every one of the 70 or so players who entered last time invites just one other player to join then we should get at least 10 new players for the new season and we can continue the increase in numbers that we managed last time. Open Invitation for reliable players to join the FOG2 Digital League.

Hello,

You are invited to play in the fifth season of the FOG2DL. The FOG2DL is not an automated tournament and players will be required to arrange their own matches.There are five sections available again and, as a new player, you may choose to play in a maximum of three of these sections. Each league section will require you to play nine matches, while in the Themed Event you will play a maximum of either nine or twelve matches if you reach the final, depending on the number of players who enter this section at the outset. The tournament is sponsored by Slitherine and prize vouchers are available for the most successful players.

The league season will last for ten weeks, opening on Saturday June 1st and closing on Sunday August 11th, so please make sure that you are not taking on too many matches.

This season will see the introduction of two new features on a trial basis. In the Early Middle Ages section players will be allowed to pick historical allies for the first time and in the Biblical section we will be using larger 1600 pt armies. There may be a slight delay to the start of the Early Middle Ages section as the armies from the forthcoming DLC "Wolves at the Gate" are included in the army list. I am hoping that this section will be underway by the start of the second week of the tournament but it will depend on the official release date of the new DLC.

Please be sure to read the Rules of Competition and Player Guide to understand what is required from players in this tournament . . .

We are still recruiting players to all sections of the FOG2DL although places are being taken quite quickly. I expect recruitment to stay open until the weekend so if you are interested in joining the tournament please sign up as soon as you can. It is perfectly OK just to enter one section in your first season to see how you like the format. This will give you 9 matches to play in 10 weeks which is a similar pace to the automated tournaments hosted by Slitherine.

There are still two vacancies left in the tournament. There is one in Late Antiquity that would suit a new player or someone in their second season in the league; and there is one in the Themed Event, which would be good for anyone really.
