Here is a response to a similar question in another thread:

I've tried to add some sounds too for a unit I've created before but I didn't achieved to do what I wanted. My unit is working well, its movement sound is ok but impossible to see neither a shooting animation nor an attack sound. So I would be glad if you could help me in detailing a bit more your process
Thanks in advance !
The following is an entry for the Panzer IVD from the efx.pzdat file:

Panzer_IVD.png (31,-17) (-31,-18) (,) (,).............. ATlight1 ATlight3 ATlight2.....................tracked_medium1 tracked_medium2 tracked_medium3

The last 3 entries (in italics) refer to 3 audio files found in the folder Panzer Corps/Audio/MoveSfx. But it seems as if you've figured that part out already.
The 3 entries in the middle (in bold) refer to files in 2 different locations. First, there are 3 audio files in the folder Panzer Corps/Audio/AttackSfx. Second, there are 3 graphics files in the folder Panzer Corps/Graphics/Animations.

The names of the attack animations and movement sounds in the efx file need to match files found in those 3 different folders. Another thing to note is that it's not necessary to have 3 different animations or movement sounds; that just adds some variety. Pick out a vanilla unit from the efx file and go look up the listed files in the 3 different folders. I think you'll be able to see how it works. And if none of that makes sense, I'm sure Maguro can clarify it better. :D Good luck.
You must have an entry in the efx.pzdat file that corresponds to your icon name; for example, if your icon is named sturmtigerAT.png, then you must have a line (in the efx file) that begins with sturmtigerAT.png and continues with the rest of the info for that unit. If that isn't clear or you have other questions, feel free to ask. Hope that helps.

I should've pointed out that I do not use the equipment editor to make modifications. I use a spreadsheet type similar to Excel to modify the necessary files. But always make back-ups!! :)

Thanks and yea using the equip 8.5 is a bit of a learning curve....there is no intructions on how to use it, just how to install it? And about the excel i did mess with that a bit and was able to load the amulet 3.0 but i do not no how to change the file type back to the original file type? I did some editing some of the stats but when i saved what i did it saves it in excel type file, and of coarse that will not work?

I use "Open Office" to do all my editing; it's a free program that contains several programs in one. I use the "Calc" part of the program which is basically a spreadsheet similar to Excel. You do have some parameters to set when opening a file. This is what it looks like when opening any of the .pzdat files:

Note that "Unicode" is selected and the "Tab" box is checked. This opens any of the .pzdat files in a way that is easy to modify.

And when saving, I usually just exit and wait for the save prompt or do a quick save (CTRL+S) so I don't have to worry about the right format. Screenshot follows:

Not sure if Excel will look like this but it might be close enough. But please back-up any files before you try modding. You know, just in case.

Now that I'm used to it, modding in a spreadsheet is quick and easy. In addition, you can mod any of the files; e-file, efx file, campaign file, etc. And it's easier to see what you're doing than trying to mod in Notepad. But whatever you're most comfortable with. :)
