Installed CEAW on a new drive (cant run)

Post by dulak »

Running winxp sev pack 3

I did a new install with 1.07 and then changed using the new mod that came out.
didnt work so then tried installing 1.06 and retrying ...
nothing seems to work.

Basically I choose the language and then the graphics and it crashes (doesnt matter which graphics).
Doesnt give me a error just exits and doesnt start.

any ideas?

thanks
looking forward to trying out this new mod

As a first resort delete the CEAW folder in Documents\ folder on your PC
We recommend anyone that is modding or changing any files that first backup the folders being changed.

Try deleting the ..\data\scenario\1939.data file (NOT 1939.scn), and restarting the game.

Something similar happen to me several months ago. The game would start up and then just go away. It turns out that my 1939.data and 1939.scn files were incompatible. On startup, CEaW will update/create all *.data files for any added or modified *.scn files. It usually does but in that one instance several months ago it didn't and this fixed my issue. Anyway, I think it's worth a shot.

hmmm ya thats not working either ... I actually have no .data file int he scenario list. I could uninstall and try again but concerned since there is a limited amount of times I can install this.

I didn't realize that there was a limit on installs / uninstalls.

If it was the copy protection kicking in you would be running in demo mode so I dont think its anything to do with that.

I might have figured it out ... (still working on it) ... I think it might be a problem with installing 1.07 and then the mod ... I reinstalled 1.06 and got it to run not sure if the mod is installed thou.

So I think theres a bug with using 1.07 and the mod to run the game. (least for me there seemed to be).

thanks for the help guys
