What's this thing?

(Arrowed) It sometimes appears randomly, is it a graphics glitch or something, and does anybody else get it too?

Yeah, the "floating" target/preview/prognosis box.
I think this bug's here to stay.

Thanks, so according to those links the bug was already known about at least a year ago but the devs apparently don't know how to fix it, so they're obviously not the supermen we thought they were.
PS- and the bug is not confined to just one scenario but can pop up anywhere, for example my screenshot a is from a desert scenario that I created the other day.

It's merely graphical, no real gameplay consequences. I don't even know if it was put into the BugDB during the beta period, to be honest.

And yeah, I've had it appear with custom stuff, too. I think Horst theorized once about a connection between that floating thingy and AA units with transports.

I think it’s related to the fact that when the game goes too fast (scrolling too fast ?), the game doesn’t have time to erase this sign (?)

That's interesting, I've got a towed Bofors AA gun in my desert scen, so I'll delete it and and hope the bug goes away, I'll post any concrete findings in this thread.
PS- one of the worst games for unfixed graphics bugs is Armed Assault III, some of which are several years old, yet the devs keep bringing out a constant stream of purchasable DLC's instead of devoting their time and energy to fixing the bugs once and for all, a bit like the OOB devs..;)

Thanks, I'll run at different speeds to see if it has an effect and post any findings in this thread.
PS- I'll also try different resolutions and graphics quality and stuff.

I take my time when I play and it almost never happens to me to see this sign.
It may also depend on your computer’s performance.
I know in general when a program does not have time to erase an image, this image may persist for some time.
These are only hypotheses.

I don't know either for sure. But I remember that floating thingy to be quite persistent. "Alt-tab"-ing out the game and back did not solve the issue, for example, and it even stayed there the next turn(s). I think only a savegame load or a restart would solve it.
