Scenario Design Question

Post by Rimski »

I am fairly decent when it comes to creating scenarios, I went through it, made a few personal maps and all, but there is one question I couldnt find the answer to, how do I change units names?

Within the editor, select the unit using shift+mouse click. The screen displayed allows you to rename the unit (in the top most box) as well as setting triggers for deployment, change it from aux/core/status etc.

Once a unit has been named in the editor, it keeps that name even if when playing you use alt+n to rename it. So for example you call a unit "General" in the editor, you can script actions or victory conditions to look for unit "General". Even if you rename the unit using alt+n, the editor still sees the name as "General".

A good example is that in Minsk 41 the editor awards you fighting Rudel only if recon Rudel is on the map. It can recognise him from his editor name even if you as a player have used alt+n to rename him "Rudel" or "Super Recon Scout".
