The last time I played Multiplayer Opis (a few months ago), the stream, behind which the Babylonians are set up, was "deep" only at the corners of the bends and at the lake end. Now I'm playing it and it's deep along its entire length, which is a problem since I'm playing as the Persians this time. Has the game map been modified in a recent update, or is stream depth randomized to reflect seasonal changes?
Thanks,
Bill
Stream depth
Re: Stream depth
Hi Bill,
According to the scenario's file date, the last time the MP version of Opis was modified was on 11/08/2018, which is over a month before Rise of Persia was released. So no, it has not been modified recently.
It was always my intention that the stream should be Deep all the way along, and I do not remember ever changing that. Stream depth is not randomised. Maybe you are thinking of a different scenario (the stream enters the Tigris river, not a lake), or maybe your previous play was affected by a bug, although I cannot think what would cause that.
Sorry I cannot give you a full explanation of what you have experienced.
cheers
Paul

Re: Stream depth
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the response. Both of us remember it being shallow most of the stretch in front of the Babylonians, which made it very difficult for them. I just don't remember when it was that we played it.

Re: Stream depth
Hi Bill,
Were you thinking of Carchemish? That has a simple stream that becomes a large one about half way along the front of the Egyptian army, and then the last 3 or 4 squares of the stream are wooded when it goes into the river.
cheers

Re: Stream depth
Hi Paul, we have played Carchemish, but it was definitely Opis. I got slaughtered as the Babylonians because the river was no obstacle, so it's etched in my brain. No worries, it doesn't matter.
