Pot Luck games restricted by date and/or geography

Post by Jagger2002 »

Is it possible to restrict pot luck custom games by date and geography?

If not, I would like to request that feature. I like the idea of pot luck games but sometimes you end up with really weird match ups. With the option to restrict by date and geography, we should have more realistic match ups and still retain the surprise element of what army shows up on the other side of the field.

They are restricted by Date and Geography if those filters are on, not if they are not.

The geographical data held for each army list is just the Minimum and Maximum longitude and latitude. Considerations such as sea between the nations are not taken into account. Also the game allows some margin outside the specified range, which may result in battles between nations that never actually fought, but could conceivably have done so.

If you (with the filters on) get a matchup that is geographically bizarre, please report it, as it is possible that there might be a typo in the data in the army list for one of the armies.

Very clever system, and works excellently in my experience. With potluck armies & terrain, you never know what you get from the many 1.000s of possibilities, it´s always an interesting surprise (and only occasionally a bit one-sided)! :D

I didn't realize that checking geography and date worked with potluck. Last night, I generated a number and it seems to work pretty well.
